Web Automation Test Engineer

About the role

Caylent, an AI-first cloud services company, is looking for a Web Automation Test Engineer to join its growing Quality Assurance and Testing practice. The engineer designs, develops and maintains scalable web automation frameworks for API and functional testing, working with Playwright and collaborating with developers and QA teams. The role is fully remote and requires full-time availability during UK business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain a scalable web automation framework for API and UI/functional testing
• Develop test strategies, test plans and automation suites with Playwright (Python/TypeScript)
• Create reusable, modular page objects and components
• Implement REST/GraphQL API testing integrated with UI tests
• Integrate tests with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
• Set up test data management, environment handling and test environment provisioning
• Implement parallel test execution, flaky test handling, retry strategies and test isolation
• Analyze test failures and provide root-cause analysis
• Document the framework, coding standards and onboarding guides

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in web automation testing
• Demonstrated experience building automation frameworks from the ground up
• Good knowledge of software design patterns
• Experience with API testing (REST/GraphQL) and integrating API tests with UI tests
• Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Playwright (Python/TypeScript) for end-to-end web testing

• Familiarity with pytest and unittest
• CI/CD integration and test reporting
• Preferred: Xray Test Management for Jira, BDD (Gherkin, Cucumber, Behave), Docker, cloud test environments, Agile/Scrum
