Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript/Node.js)

About the role

Softgic is looking for a senior, hands-on software engineer with deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, modern frontend development, REST APIs and complex web applications. The role covers the full application stack, from system design and code reviews to mentoring other developers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and debug complex web applications.
• Build and maintain backend services with Node.js and Express.
• Develop complex single-page applications with modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Work across all tiers, from databases and backend services to frontend.
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Lead code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
• Contribute to system design with a focus on security, scalability, performance and data integrity.
• Develop and maintain unit tests and create technical documentation.
• Collaborate with QA on testing strategies and work with CI, TDD, Git and Agile.
• Mentor developers and support the modernization of existing applications.

Required profile

• 5+ years of expert-level experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Experience building and maintaining complex SPAs.
• Experience with RESTful web services and/or microservices.
• Ability to contribute to system design decisions and strong communication skills.
• Advanced English (B2+/C1) for a distributed international team.

Required skills

• Node.js, Express.js and at least one modern frontend framework (React, Vue.js, Angular or AngularJS).
• In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and SCSS.
• Docker in Linux or macOS environments.
• NoSQL and/or MultiValue (PICK) databases.
• Git, Agile, continuous integration and software testing practices.
