Senior Data Engineer - Data Quality & Observability

About the role

A fully remote Senior Data Engineer is sought to lead the implementation of a modern data quality framework and observability solutions. The role enables engineering teams to detect, monitor and prevent data issues before they affect business operations, by driving engineering-owned data quality practices, operationalizing GX Core and setting validation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a scalable data quality framework across the platform
• Lead the implementation and operationalization of GX Core (Great Expectations) as the main validation framework
• Develop reusable data quality rules with a Rule-as-Code approach and automated checks for critical datasets and workflows
• Implement observability, monitoring, alerting and reporting; define data lineage and validation processes for completeness, accuracy, integrity, consistency, reconciliation, freshness and anomaly detection
• Integrate data quality validations into CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Create dashboards and reports on data quality trends and operational health, and investigate root causes of recurring issues
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Application Engineering, QA, Product and Support teams to set ownership, governance, validation frequency, remediation workflows and quality metrics

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in similar roles
• Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise data quality frameworks
• Hands-on experience with GX Core or similar tools such as Soda
• Experience building ETL pipelines, data validation rules, reconciliation processes, observability solutions and dashboards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis, and experience with cross-functional engineering teams

Required skills

• SQL, Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift
• Data modeling, referential integrity, synchronization and batch processing
• Git and engineering best practices such as Rule-as-Code
• CI/CD integration and dashboard/alerting development
