Senior Accountant

About the role

Belong is looking for a Senior Accountant to lead an automation‑enabled close for its Buenos Aires finance team. You will own the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the books while coordinating month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the automation‑enabled close, set deadlines and review team deliverables.
• Own balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate differences and ensure all balances are supported.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget‑versus‑actual reports, explaining material variances.
• Manage Belong’s side of the external audit, organize PBC schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Provide day‑to‑day accounting leadership for the Finance Operations and AR & Collections specialists.
• Partner with the Finance Data Engineer to improve automated postings, transaction matching and close workflows.

Required profile

• 5‑9 years of progressive full‑cycle accounting experience with general‑ledger and close ownership.
• Hands‑on experience in a venture‑backed startup or fast‑growing scale‑up.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a close in a lean team and handle complex journal entries and reconciliations.
• Strong command of US GAAP, accrual accounting, cut‑off and balance‑sheet substantiation.
• Direct experience supporting or leading an external audit.
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Contador Público qualification.
