Software Engineer - UniData / MultiValue BASIC

About the role

Softgic is looking for a Software Engineer with experience in UniData, MultiValue databases and BASIC programming to help maintain, enhance and modernize its enterprise Payroll and HR software products. As part of the Engineering team, you will work on business-critical applications deployed across SaaS, mobile and on-premises environments, using AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, debug and enhance applications with UniData BASIC / MultiValue BASIC
• Maintain and improve existing Payroll and HR software
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to speed up development and improve workflows
• Collaborate with QA engineers and troubleshoot complex issues across application tiers
• Contribute to and, when appropriate, lead R&D and technical improvement initiatives
• Build and consume RESTful web services and APIs
• Apply best practices such as unit testing and test-driven development (TDD)
• Work in Agile/Scrum teams and manage priorities within deadlines

Required profile

• Hands-on experience with UniData or related MultiValue technologies
• Programming experience with UniData BASIC, MultiValue BASIC or a comparable BASIC language
• Experience developing and maintaining enterprise software
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and knowledge of TDD
• Preferred: experience with SB (SystemBuilder+) or other 4GL technologies, and previous work on Payroll, HR or accounting software
