Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Finance

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage month‑end close and financial reporting for Vacation Rental clients. You will operate between day‑to‑day bookkeeping and the Controller, ensuring accurate property‑level and portfolio‑level financials.

Key responsibilities

• Own full‑cycle month‑end close, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations for one or more vacation‑rental accounts.
• Reconcile owner statements, trust/escrow accounts and property revenue against PMS data (e.g., Guesty, Streamline, Track, Hostaway).
• Review and mentor junior bookkeepers/accountants, ensuring accuracy before finalization.
• Prepare and analyze P&L and balance‑sheet statements at property and portfolio levels.
• Manage AP/AR cycles, coordinating vendor and owner payments via tools such as Ramp or Bill.com.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in booking, occupancy and revenue data flowing into the general ledger.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for client portfolios.
• Maintain and improve documentation of vacation‑rental accounting procedures.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–2 years at a senior‑accountant level.
• Hands‑on experience in vacation‑rental, short‑term rental or property‑management accounting; trust‑accounting exposure preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and full month‑end close ownership.
• Ability to handle high‑volume, multi‑property transaction data.
• Professional written and spoken English for daily client communication.
