Principal Data Architect – Databricks Enablement

About the role

Cayet is seeking a Principal Data Architect with deep Databricks expertise to lead high‑visibility data platform engagements for enterprise clients. The role blends architectural depth with a forward‑deployed engineering mindset, guiding clients from initial use‑case delivery to self‑service maturity.

Key responsibilities

• Define strategic roadmaps and Databricks adoption plans, including platform guardrails and self‑service maturity models.
• Embed with client business and engineering teams to deliver priority use cases hands‑on, then transition them to self‑service.
• Translate client needs into concrete feature requests and guardrail requirements for the platform team.
• Act as a data engineering SME in pre‑sales, shaping engagement approaches and staffing.
• Coach client architects and engineers on Databricks best practices, patterns, and tooling.
• Oversee development of data standards, operating procedures, and semantic/lineage layers for governance.

Required profile

• 10+ years designing and building complex data systems, including relational databases, data modeling, BI, governance, and big‑data processing.
• 5+ years hands‑on Databricks experience covering workspace architecture, Unity Catalog, lakehouse patterns, and AI/ML tooling.
• Strong business acumen to translate ambiguous business requests into scoped technical work.
• Experience embedding with client teams early in engagements and shifting to self‑service.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high tolerance for ambiguity.
