Head of People – Remote

About the role

We are a fast‑growing, fully remote startup looking for a Head of People to own the entire people function. You will partner with leadership to attract top talent, shape culture, and develop leaders while keeping a warm, solutions‑focused approach.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the interview pipeline, coordinating candidates with internal stakeholders to keep qualified talent flowing.
• Partner with leadership on capacity planning, hiring forecasts, and budget alignment.
• Lead salary negotiations, draft compliant contracts, and oversee smooth onboarding for employees and contractors.
• Navigate tax and legal nuances of hiring across US states and internationally.
• Act as a trusted resource for team members, offering coaching support rather than policing.
• Identify gaps and launch new people initiatives such as performance reviews, learning & development, and culture programs.
• Provide day‑to‑day HR support to leadership with a relationship‑first mindset.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in HR or People Operations.
• Background in small‑business or startup environments that have scaled from 8 to 40‑50 employees.
• Proven track record negotiating compensation and managing full‑cycle onboarding.
• Excellent verbal and written English with a warm, people‑first communication style.

Required skills

• Experience with Gusto payroll platform.
• Familiarity with ASA and Airtable (plus).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
