Technical Accounting Analyst

About the role

General Motors is hiring a Technical Accounting Analyst in Buenos Aires. The role oversees the preparation and review of technical accounting memos for complex, significant and non-standard transactions under US GAAP and applicable local statutory standards (IFRS), and works closely with Controllership, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, GPSC, Legal and regional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and review of technical accounting memos for complex, significant and non-standard transactions under US GAAP and IFRS.
• Partner with Controllership, Finance and corporate business partners to analyze transactions, determine accounting treatment and prepare financial reporting based on GM's Chart of Accounts.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial reporting information submitted to the SEC reporting team to support Form 10-Q and Form 10-K disclosures.
• Drive process modernization with regional Controllership teams and share technical accounting guidance and compliance advice.
• Facilitate global accounting policy updates by reviewing, communicating and proposing changes to Corporate Circular Letters.
• Communicate technical accounting analysis to regional leaders and partners, and help train regional Controllership teams on new accounting policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• At least two years of relevant professional experience.
• Intermediate English proficiency or higher.
• Ability to work independently with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and sound professional judgment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Professional accounting knowledge and knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience with SAP.
• Preferred: experience with data automation and analytics tools such as Power Query, Power BI, KNIME and Google Workspace.
• Preferred: experience in a Big Four accounting firm.
• Preferred: knowledge of US GAAP, local tax regulations and Portuguese.

The role is hybrid, with at least three reports per week to a specific location, and is not eligible for relocation benefits.
