Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer

About the role

intive is hiring a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to design, build and scale distributed backend systems supporting financial and mission-critical workloads. The company works with leading brands such as Audi, BMW, Meta and Warner Bros. Discovery across sectors including automotive and mobility, commerce, financial services, healthcare and technology media.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and scale distributed backend systems for financial and mission-critical workloads.
• Develop and maintain high-quality, clean and secure Ruby code.
• Work with SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) using sound data modeling, transactional consistency and high-throughput architecture principles.
• Leverage NoSQL and caching solutions to optimise performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, Risk and Platform teams to deliver business-driven solutions.
• Take part in system design discussions, code reviews and best practice initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with proven ability to build and scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in data modeling, transaction management and system performance optimisation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with cross-functional experience.
• Nice to have: experience in financial services, fintech or other highly regulated industries.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with NoSQL and caching technologies.
• Excellent Ruby coding skills following best practices for clarity, maintainability and security.
• Nice to have: microservices and cloud-native architectures, monitoring, observability and DevOps tools.
