Senior Backend Engineer – Fintech BNPL Platform

About the role

We are a fast‑growing BNPL platform dedicated to financial inclusion for Venezuelans. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own critical systems that move money for millions of users, ensuring correctness, resilience and high performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable backend services using Node.js, NestJS and Express.
• Create and maintain high‑performance RESTful APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Implement financial‑grade correctness features such as idempotency, reconciliation, retries and well‑defined failure states.
• Model and manage relational data in PostgreSQL with a focus on performance and integrity.
• Make architectural and system‑design decisions, own trade‑offs and drive production deployments end‑to‑end.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews, pairing and clear technical guidelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of backend development experience, deep expertise in Node.js and NestJS (Express).
• Proven track record designing, operating and scaling RESTful APIs in production.
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical thinking and ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
