Remote Staff Accountant – US Construction Firm

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support the day‑to‑day accounting operations of a U.S.‑based residential remodeling platform. This fully remote role works with a licensed subcontractor model and requires collaboration with the Controller and the accounting team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and maintain general‑ledger accounts.
• Perform monthly bank, credit‑card and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Process vendor invoices, customer invoicing and collections.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and monitor aging reports.
• Support project cost tracking, contract billing and retainage.
• Help prepare work‑in‑progress schedules and financial reports for project managers.
• Maintain accurate records for audits, sales‑tax filings and regulatory compliance.
• Identify and implement process improvements and assist with ERP maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and U.S. GAAP.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently during U.S. business hours (Central or Pacific preferred).

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
