Optimization Software Engineer (Backend Python, Azure)

About the role

Chevron Global Business Services is seeking an Optimization Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain backend Python services within a cloud-native environment. You will work in an agile team, delivering secure, scalable solutions that support critical business workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Build and enhance backend Python services, owning the full software development lifecycle from design to deprecation.
• Develop cloud‑native solutions using Azure services such as Azure Functions, Azure Storage/Blob, and Azure Service Bus.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, create technical designs, and deliver production‑ready solutions.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, implement fixes, and drive preventative improvements.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for development, deployment, and user support.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience through tooling and automation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend software engineering experience with Python.
• Experience owning the full software lifecycle for production software.
• Experience building and operating solutions on major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Proficiency with Git, including pull requests, branching strategies, and releases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Strong English communication skills.
