Food Specialist

About the role

CookUnity, a meal platform founded in 2018 that delivers fresh, ready-to-eat meals made by chefs, is looking for a recent Food Engineering graduate (or equivalent degree in Food Science or Technology) to join its team. The role is remote and focuses on improving ingredient quality, nutritional value and food safety through research-oriented projects, with no prior field experience required.

Key responsibilities

• Work on the Food Science Lab Project (Ingredients Integrity + Nutrients Optimization) by researching and analysing every step of the food production process, from ingredients to the customer.
• Evaluate how meals are produced and identify opportunities to improve nutritional value and ingredient performance.
• Take part in the Ingredients Integrity program by assessing ingredient quality, formulations, storage and kitchen usage, and collect and organise data to strengthen standards and sourcing decisions.
• Study food additives, their functions and regulatory restrictions.
• Collaborate with Chefs, Sourcing, Culinary Ops and Nutrition teams on quality, safety and consistency.
• Maintain clear documentation and reports, and help develop clean, high-standard recipes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Food Science or a related field.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Organised, analytical and critical thinker, able to follow structured workflows and contribute ideas.
• Able to work in a fast-paced startup environment, planning and prioritising several projects at once.
• Interest in food innovation, ingredient quality and applied research.

Required skills

• Data entry, food production ERP or recipe management software, food labelling and compliance programs.
• G Suite and Slack.
