Financial Controller – Remote (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations and transition from an outsourced model to a fully in‑house finance function. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the General Ledger, supervise bookkeeping, and deliver accurate financial reporting for a real‑estate and construction business.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy, integrity and compliance.
• Maintain and manage the Chart of Accounts and lead the transition to an internal accounting function.
• Oversee monthly close activities, reconciliations and preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, reviewing invoices, payroll, expense reports and vendor payments.
• Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations and coordinate payroll tax, sales tax and year‑end tax reporting.
• Ensure accounting practices comply with company policies, financial controls and confidentiality requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with full GL ownership.
• Strong background in month‑end close and financial reporting.
• Hands‑on experience supervising accounting or bookkeeping teams.
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
