Director, Legal Counsel – Trademarks

About the role

The Director, Legal Counsel – Trademarks is a strategic business partner responsible for protecting, growing and enabling the company’s trademark and brand assets across assigned markets. The role provides legal leadership on trademark strategy, brand development, innovation initiatives and related intellectual‑property matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead trademark searches, clearance, filing strategies and prosecution across assigned regions.
• Oversee the full trademark lifecycle—from application through registration, maintenance and enforcement.
• Advise on brand architecture, visual identity, naming strategies, product innovation and licensing matters.
• Manage opposition, cancellation and infringement actions and monitor the competitive landscape.
• Partner with marketing, innovation, operating‑unit legal teams and global IP stakeholders to align trademark strategy with business objectives.
• Direct outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions, monitor quality, costs and approve fee statements.

Required profile

• Law degree with 8+ years of trademark‑focused legal experience, including international portfolio management.
• Strong business acumen and commercial judgment, with proven stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience in both law‑firm and in‑house environments is preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
