Application Engineer Assistant Director

About the role

EY's Enterprise Technology (ET) group delivers secure technological services to over 350,000 EY people, and its Risk Management Solutions Delivery Portfolio builds and maintains EY's internal Risk Management systems. This supervisory Application Engineer role manages the technical deliverables of a project within agreed timelines, ensures the team uses the right methodologies and meets high-quality coding standards, and works with other leads to share best practices and lessons learned.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust, high-performance enterprise software and review peer code submissions.
• Estimate development effort for each phase of the project and give feedback on engineering methodologies and standards.
• Help onboard technical resources and support them with guidelines for the move to production.
• Evaluate alternative technical solutions and propose the most efficient and cost-effective option.
• Keep adherence to architectural standards, product guidelines and usability standards, and monitor code reviews and project plans.
• Translate design and solution architecture deliverables into detailed design and build deliverables, and share technical information with the team and team leads.
• Identify risks and potential delays early, propose remediation plans and minimize technical exposure.

Required profile

• 9 to 15 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in application design and implementation, and ideally AGILE development.
• Ability to supervise and motivate virtual teams, and to explain technical context to non-technical colleagues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
