Accounting Supervisor

About the role

The Accounting Supervisor prepares accurate and timely financial statements so that senior and product-line management can make informed business decisions and meet departmental goals. The role combines financial statement preparation, project-based accounting, team leadership and financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in line with GAAP and statutory accounting principles, record and process monthly and quarterly journal entries, and perform account reconciliations and cash account reconciliations.
• Investigate variances, resolve outstanding items and collaborate with stakeholders to support audit readiness.
• Support special projects and initiatives, research complex accounting issues such as SOX compliance, and recommend compliant practices.
• Lead a small team, assist with complex tasks, help staff troubleshoot and lead meetings.
• Take part in preparing and distributing internal and external financial reports and supporting financial analyses.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring processes, implement improvements and maintain up-to-date documentation of procedures and controls.
• Provide accounting support to affiliated entities or business units.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
• At least 6 years of general accounting experience.
• Experience leading and managing others is a plus.

• Use of financial systems, automation tools and data analytics platforms.
• Analytical thinking and effective written and verbal communication.
