Telco Cloud Field Engineer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Telco Cloud Field Engineer to help service providers design and deliver open‑source telco cloud platforms. You will work remotely with customers across the Americas and EMEA, guiding them through OpenStack, Kubernetes and software‑defined networking solutions for 5G, sovereign AI and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Translate service‑provider requirements into telco‑cloud architectures that support VNF/CNF, NFV and MEC workloads at scale.
• Provide technical pre‑sales consulting and design multi‑tenant private and micro clouds using open‑source technologies.
• Investigate, report and fix software defects uncovered during deployments.
• Demonstrate advanced Infrastructure‑as‑Code techniques and implement resilient cloud and application solutions.
• Support customer onboarding, architectural discussions and production readiness of use cases.
• Gather feedback from engagements to drive product improvements and shape the roadmap.

Required profile

• Strong technical understanding of telco NFVi, NFVO, VNFM and MEC concepts.
• Familiarity with telco architecture standards and at least one domain such as 4G/5G core, RAN, private network or OSS/BSS.
• Ability to lead complex projects from start to finish and travel up to 25% of the time.
• Collaborative, customer‑centric mindset focused on success.

Required skills

• Linux, networking, OpenStack, Kubernetes, MAAS, Ceph.
• Python for automation.
• CPU pinning, NUMA, SR‑IOV, DPDK.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) techniques.
• Understanding of VIM, NFVO, VNFM, MEC.
