Teacher Assistant (Classroom Support)

About the role

The Teacher Assistant supports classroom instruction under the supervision of the principal or designated teacher. Working approximately 3.5 hours per day for a nine‑month school year, the assistant helps ensure smooth daily operations and enhances student learning. The role is essential for maintaining classroom efficiency and providing direct support to students and teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize class materials and resources.
• Correct, record, and manage student assignments.
• Provide clerical and secretarial support to the teacher.
• Assist with classroom management, attendance tracking, and technology setup.
• Perform other instructional services as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years (48 semester hours) of post‑secondary education, an associate’s degree, or ability to pass the Utah State Office of Education approved Para‑Professional Test.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Secretarial/clerical experience; basic computer operation skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality.
