Staff Software Engineer – Users Vertical (Fintech)

About the role

We are a BNPL platform dedicated to financial inclusion in Venezuela, serving over 9 million users. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer for our Users Vertical, responsible for optimizing the onboarding funnel and building core user‑management services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, scale, and streamline the registration, identity verification (KYC/KYB) and fraud‑prevention flow to ensure a fast, secure, frictionless onboarding experience.
• Lead the architecture of foundational identity, profile, status and user‑preference services used across the entire ecosystem, guaranteeing high availability and low latency.
• Design resilient integrations with external vendors such as biometrics engines, fraud tools and KYC providers, implementing fallback patterns and circuit breakers.
• Define and implement the user‑event architecture to propagate lifecycle changes (registration, tier updates, profile edits) to other verticals in real time.
• Establish development standards, including clean code practices, rigorous testing, advanced observability and safe rollback strategies, and mentor senior engineers.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer designing and operating complex distributed systems at scale, preferably in identity platforms or high‑traffic onboarding funnels.
• Strong backend background with advanced proficiency in Node.js and NestJS (TypeScript) or equivalent high‑performance languages such as Rust or Go.
• Deep knowledge of architectural patterns (Hexagonal Architecture, DDD, CQRS), REST/gRPC API design, PostgreSQL optimization and Redis caching for concurrent traffic spikes.
• Extensive experience with asynchronous messaging and event streaming (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Pub/Sub) to decouple registration flows and integrations.
