Senior General Accountant

About the role

eSET is looking for a Senior General Accountant in Buenos Aires. The role leads general ledger close activities and oversees tax and statutory outputs so that they are accurate, complete and compliant with accounting and reporting standards, law and internal policies. It involves managing and analysing complex financial transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger areas and manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes in the system, in line with accounting and reporting standards, law and internal policies.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness and compliance of financial records and statutory information submitted to tax and regulatory authorities, and take formal responsibility for its correctness when required.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations and close outputs, and prepare financial reports and analysis.
• Cooperate in preparing statutory financial statements and provide financial inputs for reporting.
• Ensure timely and successful completion of financial audits and oversee tax compliance across indirect, withholding and local taxes.
• Manage tax obligations in line with local legislation, classify expenses for tax purposes and act as the point of contact for tax reporting, audits and inspections.
• Lead testing and validation of new system enhancements and releases, and act as a contact point for the HQ Finance team.
• Maintain, develop and improve accounting policies, procedures and internal controls, mentor less experienced colleagues and plan and coordinate colleagues' work.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
• 7 years of accounting experience; Big 4 or multinational/complex environment experience is an advantage.
• Professional certification (CPA, dipIFR, ACCA) highly desirable.
• Upper intermediate English (B2) and fluency in the local language.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of local GAAP; IFRS knowledge desirable.
• Expertise in financial systems and ERP platforms such as NetSuite.
• Advanced Excel and data analytics skills.
• Ability to analyse data, work under pressure and communicate clearly at all levels.
