Senior Field Engineer – Communications Systems

About the role

Motorola Solutions is seeking a senior engineer to lead the post‑sales implementation of mission‑critical communication systems in Buenos Aires. The role combines high‑level technical expertise with hands‑on field work, ensuring large‑scale solutions meet strict performance and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee deployment and configuration of core radio and infrastructure systems, including LMR P25, TETRA and microwave links.
• Define system specifications, server infrastructure, capacity planning and networking protocols (IP/RF, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, NAT).
• Conduct site surveys, manage tower and shelter requirements, and execute complex RF/microwave installations.
• Develop technical, tactical and strategic plans, ensure Acceptance Test Plan compliance and provide feasibility assessments.
• Serve as expert escalation point for field issues and disseminate technical information to internal teams and customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or Electronics Engineering.
• 3+ years experience with mission‑critical communication systems or IT infrastructure.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (written and oral) and a valid driving license.
• Willingness to travel 25‑50% (up to 50%+) to remote sites.
• Proactive customer‑service mindset with autonomy to drive outcomes.

Required skills

• RF engineering principles, antenna/cable systems, combiners, multi‑couplers, lightning protection.
• Experience with Motorola LMR ecosystems (ASTRO 25, TETRA, HF, DMR) or equivalent.
• Deep knowledge of OSI model and network protocols (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, NAT).
• Server infrastructure expertise (VMware ESXi, Linux, Windows Server) and API integration.
• Cybersecurity best practices, encryption, port security and certificate‑based authentication.
• Site construction experience for remote communication sites (grounding, tower/shelter).
• Relevant certifications valued: CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, Nokia NRS1, PMP, ITIL.
