Senior DevOps Engineer – Observability Platform (K8s/AWS)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our observability platform. The role focuses on end‑to‑end signal collection, instrumentation, dashboarding and alerting for distributed systems running on Kubernetes in AWS. You will enable engineering teams to reduce MTTR through high‑quality metrics, logs and traces.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain the metrics pipeline using Prometheus, Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, and the kube‑prometheus‑stack via Helm.
• Own the OpenTelemetry collector architecture, defining receiver, processor and exporter pipelines and managing ADOT deployments through the EKS add‑on.
• Manage the logging layer, selecting between CloudWatch Logs for AWS services and Loki + LogQL for Kubernetes workloads, and enforce consistency.
• Implement and maintain distributed tracing, establishing context‑propagation standards and operating back‑ends such as AWS X‑Ray, Tempo or Jaeger.
• Develop Grafana dashboards‑as‑code, configure unified alerting with Alertmanager, and create recording rules and SLO/SLI models.
• Drive SDK‑level instrumentation standards across services and mentor teams on observability best practices.

Required profile

• Strong production‑level experience with Prometheus and PromQL.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating OpenTelemetry collector pipelines.
• Deep understanding of the Kubernetes observability stack (kube‑state‑metrics, node‑exporter, cAdvisor/kubelet).
• Expertise in Grafana dashboard development, unified alerting and Alertmanager configuration.
• Working knowledge of AWS observability tooling (CloudWatch Logs, Container Insights, ADOT, EKS).
• Proven experience implementing distributed tracing using X‑Ray, Tempo or Jaeger.
