Software Engineer (Rust) – Consumer Applications

About the role

Kraken is looking for a Rust‑focused Software Engineer to join its Consumer team. You will help build the next generation of applications that bring crypto services to millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Rust services and libraries that power trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that scales across teams and supports revenue‑critical systems.
• Collaborate on large‑scale distributed system architecture, translating product requirements into low‑latency, resilient solutions.
• Work alongside a large community of Rust engineers, contributing to a product‑driven engineering culture.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of services and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in building network services or asynchronous code using Rust.
• Security‑first mindset with the ability to design robust, fault‑tolerant systems.
• Self‑driven debugging skills across OS, network, and application layers.
• Experience with distributed systems concepts such as RPC protocols, Kafka, and event‑driven architectures.
• Effective collaboration with product teams to gather requirements and constraints.
