Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure)

About the role

Distillery is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead Azure DevOps and infrastructure delivery for a key client project. You will work across backend, frontend, QA, data, and product teams within a 30‑plus member engineering organization.

Key responsibilities

• Own the project's DevOps area, investigate existing applications, infrastructure, and data pipelines, and identify technical gaps.
• Deliver hands‑on changes to infrastructure, define production requirements for each application, and build a prioritized backlog.
• Translate technical findings into actionable work for cross‑functional teams, validate outcomes, and diagnose issues across infrastructure, code, integrations, or data processing.
• Investigate ADF‑orchestrated Databricks ETL workflows, assess performance, and support migration from Bicep/ARM to OpenTofu.
• Build and improve deployment pipelines, environment provisioning, and configuration practices in Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Serve as primary technical point of contact, document and improve workflows, and apply client security and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience as a DevOps Engineer or technical lead in an enterprise environment.
• Strong technical judgment, ability to investigate unfamiliar systems, prioritize work, and communicate risks and decisions clearly.
• Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Deep hands‑on expertise in Azure architecture (Web Apps, Container Apps, Entra ID).
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/OpenTofu (HCL) and ability to work with Bicep and ARM templates.
• CI/CD pipeline development in Azure DevOps and GitHub workflows.
• Scripting/automation with PowerShell or Bash.
• Development knowledge of .NET/C# and Python.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks ETL workflows, and performance assessment.
• Understanding of enterprise security standards, compliance, and governance for cloud environments.
