Senior Controller – Consumer Industry

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a hands‑on Senior Controller to lead its consumer‑industry accounting portfolio. The role blends technical accounting expertise, people leadership, and strategic partnership with clients in the CPG and retail sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full accounting cycle and drive month‑end and quarter‑end close processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Design and implement AI‑driven automation initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for consumer‑industry clients, building relationships and presenting financial results.
• Oversee accounting operations across the consumer portfolio, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on controller or senior accounting leadership.
• Deep knowledge of the consumer industry (CPG, retail, or related).
• Proven track record of implementing accounting automations or AI‑based process improvements.
• Strong client‑facing and communication abilities.
• CPA preferred; ERP proficiency required.
