Senior Android Software Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Android Software Engineer you will lead the architecture, development and maintenance of high‑performance Android applications that power CNN’s digital experience. Working in a hybrid model from Argentina, you will collaborate with product, design, editorial and engineering teams to deliver innovative consumer‑facing features.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build intuitive Android apps using Kotlin, Java and Jetpack Compose.
• Maintain and evolve existing codebases to ensure stability, scalability, security and performance.
• Develop and improve mobile tooling, CI/CD pipelines and automation (Git, Bitrise).
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of production issues and implement robust fixes.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best engineering practices.
• Ensure compliance with CNN Digital engineering standards and security guidelines.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of professional mobile software development experience.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures and software architecture.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and non‑technical teams.

Required skills

• Kotlin and Java programming.
• Jetpack Compose and modern Android frameworks.
• Mobile CI/CD tools such as Git and Bitrise.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, especially AWS.
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL and Graph databases.
