Remote Tax Preparer / Staff Tax Accountant

About the role

Wandering CPA is seeking a detail‑oriented Tax Preparer / Staff Tax Accountant to join its remote team. The role supports tax and accounting operations for a growing client base, preparing federal returns and assisting senior reviewers within established workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare federal tax returns for individuals (1040), partnerships (1065), S‑Corporations (1120S) and corporations (1120).
• Import and reconcile trial balances, post adjusting journal entries, and maintain supporting workpapers.
• Organize tax documentation, resolve system diagnostics, and follow firm procedures.
• Assist with bookkeeping, monthly and year‑end close, and client record maintenance.
• Collaborate with senior reviewers, contribute to process improvements, and support special projects during peak seasons.

Required profile

• 2+ years of U.S. tax preparation experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. tax and accounting principles.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• English proficiency C1 or higher.
• Experience working remotely with U.S.–based accounting firms.

What we offer

• Full‑time remote position with a fixed schedule (7 AM–4 PM or 8 AM–5 PM EST).
• Monthly salary of $1,660.
