Regional Tax Director – LATAM

About the role

SGS is seeking a Regional Tax Director to lead tax functions across Latin America. The role supports countries during inspections, compliance, reporting and strategic tax planning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist countries during tax inspections, provide documentation, negotiate with authorities and support appeals.
• Oversee local tax compliance, including transfer pricing documentation and quarterly tax reporting (Form 18) with detailed analysis of deferred tax, tax losses and effective tax rates.
• Manage tax risks, provisions for consolidated financial statements and monitor audits via the Blika tax platform.
• Provide cross‑border tax advice on VAT, withholding tax, permanent establishment issues and tax rulings/APA applications.
• Lead tax due‑diligence for M&A, review tax clauses in sale‑purchase agreements and identify tax‑efficient structures.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance or Law; professional certifications (CPA, CTA, CFA) preferred.
• 10+ years of international taxation experience with strong LATAM exposure, preferably from a Big Four or multinational.
• Proven ability to lead regional tax teams, manage advisors and influence senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of direct, indirect and transfer‑pricing rules (PE, thin‑cap, VAT/GST).
• Strong command of IFRS and US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
• Experience with tax risk management systems such as Blika.
• Proficiency in HFM for tax calculations.
