Principal System Engineer – Tableau Administration

About the role

The Tableau Administrator & System Lead Delegate is responsible for the overall administration, performance, and security of Boehringer Ingelheim's global Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud environments. This technical lead works closely with IT, data analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, compliant, and high‑performing BI services.

Key responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, configure, and monitor Tableau Server and Cloud infrastructure.
• Manage user access, permissions, groups, and onboarding of new projects.
• Optimize system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and handle change requests.
• Implement security protocols, ensure GxP compliance, and integrate authentication with enterprise systems.
• Develop backup, disaster‑recovery, and restoration procedures.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor 2nd‑level support, and document configurations for audit readiness.
• Forecast capacity needs and plan scaling or resource allocation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 3+ years administering Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud and 3+ years using Tableau Desktop.
• Strong understanding of databases, networking, and security concepts.
• Experience with scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell) and AWS background.
• Professional English communication skills.
