About the role

Avenga is looking for a Semi‑Senior Java Engineer to join a strategic initiative at a leading Argentine financial institution. You will help evolve backend services that power critical banking products, working with modern Java, Spring Boot microservices and event‑driven architectures.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable Java backend services supporting core banking operations.
Participate in the migration from Java 8 to Java 21, ensuring code quality and performance.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including architects, product owners and QA—to deliver secure, reliable solutions.
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and adopt AI‑assisted development tools.

Required profile

4+ years of experience building backend applications with Java.
Strong knowledge of Java 11+ (Java 17/21 highly valued).
Ability to work autonomously and engage in technical discussions and code reviews.

Required skills

Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices architecture.
JPA/Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
JUnit, Mockito, Git, Maven, Docker, CI/CD practices.
Asynchronous processing, event‑driven design, Apache Kafka.
Spring Security, JWT, Hexagonal Architecture, SOLID principles.
Resilience4j, SonarQube, Testcontainers.
AI‑assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT.
