Legal Assistant – Accounting & Settlement Support

About the role

The client is a US‑based personal injury law firm seeking a detail‑oriented Legal Assistant to manage day‑to‑day accounting and support the financial workflow from settlement through final client disbursement. The role works closely with finance, case management, and settlement teams to ensure accurate bookkeeping, lien resolution, and timely payments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage files from settlement through final disbursement, preparing closing statements and settlement documents.
• Verify liens, payoffs, referral sources, and client disbursement amounts; maintain wire templates for payments.
• Send lien verification requests, track updates, negotiate and resolve liens before disbursement.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records, review and process invoices, reconcile bank and operating accounts, and track staff expenses.

Required profile

• 1–3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial coordination experience.
• Experience with legal settlements, liens, or personal injury law firms is strongly preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to handle confidential financial information.
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and able to meet U.S. business‑hour deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Proficiency with cloud‑based tools and AI‑assisted workflows such as Claude.
