Data Architect - Retail and Downstream

About the role

Trafigura is looking for a seasoned Data Architect to own the data architecture and product delivery strategy for its retail and downstream business. You will design scalable, well-governed data platforms that turn commercial needs into robust, business-ready data products, working closely with business and IT stakeholders and staying accountable for the quality, reliability and business relevance of every data product.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own end-to-end data architecture for retail and downstream data products, from ingestion to consumption
• Define data modeling standards, platform patterns and architectural principles across the data ecosystem
• Lead the design and delivery of reusable, well-documented data products
• Translate local business requirements into architecture decisions aligned with global IT strategy and data governance
• Act as the technical bridge between business stakeholders and global IT
• Drive data quality, lineage and cataloguing practices
• Evaluate and recommend new data technologies, patterns and tooling
• Mentor data engineers and analysts, and engage global data and IT teams on standards, tooling roadmaps and delivery priorities

Required profile

• 10+ years in data architecture, data engineering or data platform roles, with at least 5 years in a senior architecture capacity
• Proven track record delivering governed, business-ready data assets, not just pipelines
• Experience across global and local IT structures, with strong stakeholder engagement and delivery in complex, multi-stakeholder environments

Required skills

• Databricks (Lakehouse, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables)
• AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lake Formation) and Azure (ADLS, Synapse, ADF, Purview)
• Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka, dbt, SQL and Python
• Data modeling: dimensional modeling, Data Vault or equivalent
• Nice to have: Snowflake, data mesh, data governance frameworks and cataloguing tools, and BI/analytics delivery (Power BI, Qlik, Tableau)
