Associate Counsel – Legal Services Team

About the role

American Express’s Legal Services Team is seeking an Associate Counsel to join its Buenos Aires hub. Reporting to a senior lawyer, you will support an international portfolio of commercial contracts and provide legal advice to business units across the Americas, EMEA and APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate legal risks for a diverse, international portfolio.
• Draft, review, analyse and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including procurement, marketing, sponsorship and data‑protection contracts.
• Support internal governance and approval processes, coordinating with global stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with external counsel in multiple jurisdictions.
• Conduct legal research for teams across LAC, US, EMEA and APAC.
• Assist with company secretarial matters and other LST workstreams.
• Collaborate with LST colleagues in Kuala Lumpur, London and Argentina to improve knowledge‑management and training programmes.

Required profile

• Argentina‑qualified solicitor or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience drafting and advising on commercial contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to work with global business clients.
• Fluent in both Spanish and English.
• Proven ability to lead partners and deliver client‑focused legal support.
