Assistant Vice President – Sr. Counsel – Legal Shared Services

About the role

J.P. Morgan is seeking a transactional lawyer to join its Legal Shared Services Team. The role focuses on providing legal support for trading, markets, and restructuring activities within the firm’s banking and financial services operations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of corporate documents, including non‑disclosure agreements, cooperation agreements, syndicated loans, secured and unsecured credit agreements, transaction support agreements, and LSTA/LMA secondary loan trading documentation.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for associate lawyers, acting as a key decision‑maker and proactive problem‑solver for internal stakeholders.
• Work independently on complex legal matters while engaging in special projects as required.

Required profile

• Law degree and admission to practice.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Comfort with technology and willingness to learn registration‑statement software.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate across business and support groups, and make rapid decisions.
• Excellent writing, communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
• Experience using Litera Workshare Compare.
