Accountant (Restaurant & QBO Experience)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with restaurant and QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience. You will join a collaborative, remote team that supports hospitality clients, delivering accurate financial reporting and day‑to‑day accounting support.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain all financial records, categorize expenses, and manage the general ledger daily within QuickBooks Online.
• Reconcile daily POS sales reports with cash deposits, credit‑card payouts, and third‑party delivery apps (UberEats, DoorDash, etc.) in QBO.
• Review, enter, and track vendor invoices for food, beverage, and other suppliers, ensuring timely payments and accurate accounts.
• Monitor key restaurant metrics, especially Food & Beverage (COGS) and labor costs.
• Perform monthly bank and credit‑card statement reconciliations in QBO and generate basic Profit & Loss reports for owners/managers.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
• Strong, practical experience using QuickBooks Online.
• Familiarity with connecting QBO to restaurant POS systems (e.g., Toast, Clover, Square) is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with a growth mindset.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday, working as an independent contractor.
