People Partner

About the role

The People Partner provides HR support to managers and employees across Assurant business lines, focusing on employee experience and data‑driven decisions. The role partners with People Business Partners to coach, counsel, and address performance, conduct, and talent needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive and reactive coaching on performance development, improvement, and conduct using Success in Leading Employees frameworks.
• Assist managers with hiring, staffing, compensation management, and job description development.
• Support employee engagement initiatives, action planning, and follow‑up.
• Deliver policy interpretation advice, training on FMLA, union avoidance, wage and hour, accommodations, and other HR topics.
• Participate in termination processes, including reductions in force, and provide post‑notification support.
• Investigate employee or manager concerns, document cases in NeoCase/ERIN, and use Workday, Peakon and analytics tools to drive performance insights.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• At least 1 year (or 4 years) of HR professional experience, including coaching, performance management, and employee engagement.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, EEO, etc.).
