Associate Counsel – Latin America (Buenos Aires)

About the role

Visa is looking for an Associate Counsel to join its Legal & Compliance team for the Latin America & Caribbean region. Based in Buenos Aires, the lawyer will support Visa’s business operations across the Southern Cone – Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia – providing commercial and regulatory legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on financial regulatory frameworks in the five jurisdictions and monitor regulatory developments.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as services, partnership, vendor, technology and SaaS contracts.
• Review marketing initiatives, terms and conditions to ensure legal compliance.
• Provide integrated legal support to local teams and align advice with regional and global legal functions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business, product and other stakeholders, delivering training and guidance on legal and regulatory matters.
• Contribute to process improvement, knowledge management and legal operations efficiency, leveraging technology and AI.
• Manage local claims and litigation in coordination with the legal team and outside counsel.

Required profile

• Law degree with strong academic credentials; specialization in corporate, banking, business law, fintech or law and economics is desirable.
• At least 5 years of legal experience in payments, fintech, financial institutions or a top‑tier/specialized boutique law firm.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Demonstrated expertise in commercial contracts, financial regulation, civil and commercial law and consumer law.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with strong interpersonal and influencing abilities.
