Tech Lead - Product Engineering (Email Builder)

About the role

Stensul is looking for a Technical Lead to own the technical direction of its email builder team, which lets enterprise marketers assemble campaign emails and check them against brand, legal and rendering standards. The role is an individual contributor position within a long-lived, cross-functional team of Engineering, Product and Design, partnering with the Engineering Manager. The team works on a B2B platform serving large, regulated organizations, and the email builder is the original product surface and most heavily used.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural and technical discussions, document trade-offs and risks, and guide the team's technical direction in line with the broader engineering architecture.
• Promote engineering best practices such as shift-left security, data privacy, observability and system reliability.
• Contribute directly to the codebase, improve architecture, scalability, performance and maintainability, and drive complex initiatives and refactoring.
• Mentor engineers, foster continuous learning, and give input on hiring and team growth alongside the Engineering Manager.
• Work with other Tech Leads, platform teams and SRE on architecture and standards, coordinate cross-team initiatives and deployments, and improve engineering processes.
• Own system availability and reliability, partner with QA on test strategy and automation, and lead incident reviews and post-mortems.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience building and shipping high-quality software.
• 5+ years of technical leadership within engineering teams.
• Experience designing scalable web applications and APIs, and leading large refactoring initiatives.
• Strong communication skills, ability to mentor engineers, and a track record of improving software processes and production quality.

Required skills

• Strong JavaScript, with Vue.js preferred (React or other mainstream frameworks considered).
• Server-side languages such as PHP, Node.js, Golang or Python.
• Relational and document databases (MySQL, MongoDB) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Testing, observability tools and Git-based CI/CD workflows.
• Active hands-on use of AI-assisted development and AI agents.
