Tax & Royalties Analyst

About the role

The Tax & Royalties Analyst supports Chevron's Production, Revenue & Royalty Accounting (PR&RA) department, ensuring accurate accounting of U.S. state and federal royalties and tax obligations for upstream oil and gas operations. The role combines regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and process improvement within a dynamic, technology‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Apply accounting principles to record U.S. state/federal royalties, tax payments, expense accruals and receivables.
• Prepare royalty and tax reports and payments in line with lease agreements and regulations.
• Process private royalty owner payments and calculate, remit, and report tax withholdings.
• Participate in month/quarter/year‑end close activities, including variance analysis, account reconciliation and metrics reporting.
• Resolve balance issues, manage sensitive owner situations and support potential litigation matters.
• Collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams and geographies, ensuring SOX and internal controls compliance.
• Support S/4HANA ERP implementation and leverage tools such as SAP, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Workplace by Facebook.

Required profile

• Experience with U.S. state and federal royalty and tax accounting.
• Ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary, cross‑geography environment.
• Strong analytical skills for variance and reject analysis.
