Software Engineer III

About the role

Proofpoint is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Unified Detection team, building and deploying large‑scale threat detection services that protect customers across email, social media, and SaaS applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop moderately complex features and components that integrate into the larger detection system.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while ensuring thorough testing and quality.
• Take ownership of smaller features, anticipate blockers, and communicate risks early.
• Participate actively in code reviews, retrospectives, and team discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of software development experience with growing proficiency in Python or Golang.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud environments (AWS, Azure or similar), and containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with observability or monitoring tools such as Grafana or Kibana.
