Software Engineer II – Text Analytics (Java, NLP)

About the role

Medallia’s Text Analytics team is expanding to build large‑scale pipelines that turn unstructured data into actionable insights. As a Software Engineer II you will design, develop, and operate distributed systems that process reviews, chat transcripts, call‑center interactions and more, leveraging Java, NLP, and emerging Generative AI technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, resilient text‑processing services using Java, Kafka, S3, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with Data Science and AI teams to integrate Machine Learning models, Large Language Models and AI pipelines into production.
• Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure uninterrupted service and drive the technical roadmap.
• Identify gaps in tools, processes or knowledge and work with managers and product managers to address them.
• Adopt best development practices, contribute to tooling, and participate in agile ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, demos and code reviews.

Required profile

• 3+ years of production Java development experience.
• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Experience integrating AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) into development workflows.
• Familiarity with event‑driven/streaming architectures (Kafka) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
