Site Reliability / Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Meitner Energy is building an AI platform that runs on a dedicated bare‑metal GPU cluster. This role owns the cluster, its networking and storage, and the compliance boundary separating regulated nuclear workloads from general‑purpose compute.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and secure the GPU cluster, enforcing default‑deny egress, network segmentation, zero‑trust access, bastion hosts and privileged access controls.
• Maintain infrastructure‑as‑code for the platform, build and keep staging environments in sync with production, and automate reliable, auditable releases.
• Define backup, restore and recovery procedures, own the observability stack (metrics, logs, alerts), and manage capacity and cost telemetry for GPU and storage resources.
• Carry on‑call responsibility, respond to incidents promptly, and lead blameless post‑incident reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional experience in site reliability, infrastructure or systems engineering.
• Hands‑on experience operating GPU clusters or high‑performance compute infrastructure.
• Demonstrated on‑call ownership with incident response and verified restore testing.

Required skills

• Linux systems administration and networking fundamentals.
• Firewall and ACL management, network segmentation and default‑deny policies.
• Production container orchestration and declarative infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Metrics, logging and alerting stack implementation and maintenance.
• Zero‑trust network access, bastion host and privileged access management patterns.

What we offer

• Direct ownership of critical infrastructure supporting carbon‑free nuclear energy.
• International collaboration across the US, Argentina and the UK.
• Comprehensive health insurance, 401(k) plan and employee stock option program.
• Modern Dallas office with on‑site fitness facility.
