Senior Proposal Engineer

About the role

Hitachi, Ltd. is looking for a highly motivated Senior Proposal Engineer to lead the creation of technically robust and commercially compelling proposals for complex engineering projects. You will work closely with sales, engineering, product, and R&D teams to turn client requirements into winning solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of complete technical and commercial proposals aligned with client needs and Hitachi capabilities.
• Analyze RFPs, ITBs, and related documents to extract key specifications and commercial terms.
• Develop innovative, cost‑effective technical solutions in partnership with engineering and product teams.
• Estimate project costs, define scope of work, and articulate value propositions.
• Prepare detailed technical descriptions, schedules, and resource plans for inclusion in proposals.
• Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients.
• Negotiate technical and commercial aspects of proposals to secure project awards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of proposal processes and tools.
• Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related).
• 5+ years experience in proposal generation, technical sales or project engineering within energy, infrastructure or manufacturing.
• Proven track record of winning complex engineering projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
