Senior Communications and External Relations Officer

About the role

The World Bank Group is looking for a Senior Communications and External Relations Officer to support its Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay country programs. Based in Buenos Aires, the role blends strategic advisory duties with hands‑on delivery, helping to shape the narrative around development priorities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communications that align regional efforts with the World Bank’s global strategy.
• Build support and understanding for World Bank priorities among diverse stakeholder groups, including media, civil society, foundations, private sector, donor countries and international organisations.
• Enhance and protect the World Bank’s reputation as a leading development institution.
• Support operational effectiveness and social accountability by sharing progress, knowledge and results.
• Utilise traditional and digital communication tools, including social media and artificial‑intelligence‑enabled platforms, to engage audiences.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, public affairs or external relations, preferably in an international development context.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Strong analytical and advisory skills with the ability to deliver concrete communication products.
• Ability to work collaboratively with regional and country teams.
