Senior Applied Data Scientist

About the role

Applaudo is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to design, build, and evaluate machine‑learning solutions for entity matching and similarity scoring. You will work with large, messy, multilingual datasets and apply cutting‑edge LLM and embedding techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate ML models for company/entity matching, including embedding and LLM‑based approaches.
• Design scoring, ranking, and benchmark datasets; define metrics, baselines, and error‑analysis processes.
• Run experiments comparing LLM‑assisted methods with lower‑cost alternatives and assess inference economics and scalability.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and business stakeholders and document experimental outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional data science or machine‑learning experience.
• Strong applied ML fundamentals, experimental design skills, and ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems.
• Excellent English communication and ability to convey technical trade‑offs to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Python and SQL
• Embeddings, semantic similarity, LLMs, NLP, classification
• Supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, transformer architectures
• TensorFlow, PyTorch, PyCaret (or equivalent ML frameworks)
• Experience with Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
