Senior Accounting Analyst

About the role

General Motors is hiring a Senior Accounting Analyst in Buenos Aires. The role covers general ledger and month-end close, statutory reporting, external audit coordination and internal controls, and includes leading a small team. It is a hybrid position with at least three days per week in the office, and no immigration sponsorship or relocation benefits are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Run general ledger and monthly close activities in line with US GAAP, Argentine accounting standards, GM policies and internal controls.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, reconciliations, variance analyses and working papers.
• Analyze accounting risks and unusual balances, and escalate significant matters.
• Convert financial information to USD functional currency and analyze FX impacts.
• Prepare statutory trial balances, GAAP adjustments, inflation accounting and statutory financial statements with notes and schedules.
• Support statutory and government filings with IGJ and other authorities, and coordinate external audit requests.
• Carry out internal controls and SOX procedures and partner with Finance, shared services and regional teams.
• Lead a team of similar-function colleagues, support process improvement and automation, and research new accounting standards.

Required profile

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) degree and strong knowledge of Argentine accounting standards.
• Proven experience with inflation accounting, full financial statements, USD conversion, external audits and statutory reporting to IGJ.
• 3-4 years of experience; hands-on month-end close under tight deadlines and experience in complex corporate groups.
• Intermediate or higher English; ability to work with regional teams.

Required skills

• Excel (proficiency preferred); advanced Excel and large data volumes preferred.
• SAP, preferably SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI).
• US GAAP and reconciliation with Argentine standards; auditable journal entries and working papers.
• Data automation and analytics tools such as Power Query, Power BI or KNIME (preferred).
• Google Workspace.
