Senior Accountant – Finance Lead

About the role

Belong is looking for a senior accountant to lead an automation‑enabled close for its Buenos Aires finance team. You will own the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the books, coordinate month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close, and ensure audit‑ready reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the automation‑enabled close, manage the close calendar, review team deliverables and prepare complex journal entries.
• Own balance‑sheet reconciliations, set standards, investigate differences and ensure all balances are supported.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget‑versus‑actual reports, explaining material variances.
• Lead Belong’s side of external audits, organize PBC schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Guide and develop the Finance Operations Specialist and AR & Collections Specialist, setting accounting standards and priorities.
• Partner with the Finance Data Engineer to improve automated postings, transaction matching and close workflows.

Required profile

• 5‑9 years of full‑cycle accounting experience with general‑ledger and close ownership.
• Hands‑on experience in a venture‑backed startup or fast‑growing scale‑up.
• Strong command of US GAAP, accrual accounting, cut‑off and balance‑sheet substantiation.
• Experience leading external audits and preparing budget‑versus‑actual reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or Contador Público); US company or multi‑entity experience preferred.

Required skills

• NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage or similar accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets (complex formulas, pivots, lookups, data validation).
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
