Security Engineer, Security Operations and Governance

About the role

Meitner Energy develops advanced nuclear energy solutions and runs a private AI platform that handles export-controlled nuclear technology, sensitive engineering material and regulatory data across several jurisdictions. This role owns the security and compliance posture of that platform: access controls, audit trails, data-loss prevention and control mappings. It also adds security engineering depth to the corporate IT security program, coordinating with the Director of Global IT and external security monitoring partners. The position is based in Dallas.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, role-based and attribute-based access control, and document-level access controls aligned with data-sensitivity tiers and export-control requirements.
• Deploy and operate data-loss prevention controls, immutable audit logging and secrets management, and own vulnerability management (scanning cadence, triage, remediation tracking and reporting).
• Run prompt-injection testing and own incident response procedures for AI systems, including playbooks for model misuse and data exfiltration.
• Own access enforcement for export-controlled material, build and maintain the control mapping and evidence library against federal information-protection standards, and coordinate with the AI Platform Lead, legal and compliance stakeholders.
• Define corporate security standards with the Director of Global IT, manage the daily relationship with external security monitoring partners (alert triage, escalation, tuning, reporting), and support security awareness and policy communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of experience in security engineering, security operations or a combined security and governance role.
• Hands-on experience implementing SSO, MFA, RBAC/ABAC, privileged access management and secrets management in production, able to configure them personally.
• Working knowledge of federal information-protection control frameworks and their evidence requirements, including control mappings that passed an audit or assessment.
• Experience with SIEM or managed detection tooling, alert triage and managing an external monitoring relationship.
• Understanding of export-control frameworks and controlled unclassified information handling.
• Ability to write clear security documentation, control narratives and audit evidence, and to work on-site in Dallas.

Preferred qualifications

• Spanish, since the role coordinates with colleagues in Argentina.
• Certification such as CISSP or CISM.
• Experience with AI-specific security challenges (prompt injection, model access control, inference audit, adversarial testing of language models).
• Familiarity with data-loss prevention tooling and document-level access control in a regulated environment.
• Background in nuclear energy, defense, aerospace or another export-controlled industry.
